Warren - Cheryl Gulas Werblan, 77, of Warren, OH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday evening, December 10, 2024.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio on January 17, 1947 to Joseph and Betty Gulas, Cheryl grew up in Struthers and graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in education.
She taught in Austintown schools and as a preschool teacher in Howland, touching the lives of countless students. On June 24, 1972, Cheryl married the love of her life, Michael Werblan. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family and faith. Cheryl is survived by her two beloved children: Michael J. Werblan of Colorado and Melissa Koltiska (James) of Ohio. She was the proud grandmother of Shamus, age 7, and Alana, age 3, who were the light of her life.
Cheryl also leaves behind her brothers, Joe (Michele) and Chuck (Diane) Gulas; niece and nephew, Christine and Joey; sister-in-law, Mary Werblan and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Charles Werblan.
She had a zest for life and was a master gardener who loved to travel. Cheryl embarked on unforgettable adventures with Michael across Europe, Alaska, and Australia, with a particularly meaningful trip to Hungary in 2018 that celebrated her heritage. A devout member of Blessed Sacrament Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered with organizations like Meals on Wheels and the YSU English Festival.
Her legacy of kindness, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Cheryl on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 10am to 11am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE Warren, OH 44483.
A Funeral Mass will follow at the church at 11am with Rev. Edward Stafford presiding.
