Niles – Clarence Lyle Bates, 98, formerly of Warren, passed away Friday evening, July 29, 2022 at Continuing Healthcare of Niles.
Clarence was born on March 2, 1924 in Kinsman, OH, the son of Carl and Effie (Norton) Bates.
After attending high school, Clarence served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. After contracting tuberculosis, Clarence was honorably discharged for his service and returned home.
Clarence worked in the steel industry for many years and enjoyed a well-deserved retirement.
He was a longtime member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren.
Clarence will always be remembered by his children, Paula (Tom) McGee and Carl Bates; daughter-in-law, Sandi Bates; long-time partner, Clara Marshall of Howland; her son, Paul B. Marshall of Dayton, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by Julia Bates and a son, Paul Bates
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Clarence on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 1 to 2pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.
A Funeral Service will follow at 2pm at the funeral home with full military honors.
Burial will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Warren.
