It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Deacon Bob Green, 72, who went to be with the Lord our Savior on August 6, The Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.
Bob was an extraordinary man, a beacon of unconditional love, and a true servant of his faith. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others. He touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him.
As a devoted father, grandfather, and loving spouse, Bob’s family was the center of his world. His gentle guidance, warm embrace, and infectious laughter created a home filled with joy and cherished memories. He was a pillar of strength and a source of comfort, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
Born in Allentown, PA, Bob was the son of Francis Green and Nancy (Barto) Bauer. He was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA and received his bachelor’s degree of accounting from Villanova University. He practiced as a CPA and spent his career in the manufacturing industry in executive management positions, most recently as CFO with Glunt Industries.
Bob was an ordained deacon for the past 11 years, starting at Blessed Sacrament prior to his current parish of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Cortland. He served many ministries with RCIA and youth ministry being his favorites. Bob walked through life with a grace and humility that made everyone around him strive to be better. Along with being a deacon, he was a mentor and a friend to many, always leading by example and offering his wisdom and support. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he dedicated himself fully to serving his community and sharing his love with all.
He was preceded in death by his father Francis, first wife Bonnie, and stepfather Steven Bendekovits.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra, his mother Nancy Bauer his children Michael Green, Jennifer (Scott) Donoughe, Brooke (Joseph) Steines, and Angelica Fortune, his grandchildren, Anthony, Samantha, Jake, Julia, and Patrick Anthony, his sister Nancy (Barry) Breitenstein, many nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, OH 44483
A funeral mass will be held Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church 4650 OH-46, Cortland, OH 44410. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church on Monday. Burial to follow at All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
