Warren – Dean “Dino” Haidaris, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, after a courageous battle with a terminal illness.
Born on February 27, 1961 in Warren, Dino lived his life in the Warren area. Dino graduated from Howland High School in 1979 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Edinboro University.
Dino went to work at the family business, Sunrise Inn in downtown Warren, then owned by his father, Angelo Haidaris and his uncle, Thomas Haidaris. Eventually, Dino took co-ownership of Sunrise Inn and continued to be a beloved mainstay at the downtown business until his retirement in 2018. He was well known for his kindness and empathy, often inviting the less fortunate into the restaurant and providing them with food and other necessities. His commitment to his customers and his work family was matched by his dedication to his family and friends.
Dino was known for his sharp wit and keen sense of humor. You could not be in his presence long without finding yourself roaring with laughter. He helped to warm the lives of those that were blessed to know him. He was always thinking of others and his generosity and compassion knew no bounds. He was an avid sports fan, supporting his Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns. Nothing gave him more enjoyment than attending a Cleveland Indians (he would not abide using Guardians) baseball game on a summer evening with his kids and grandkids.
Dino is survived in death by his loving children, Jessica (Mike) Blesch of Warren, Alexandra Haidaris of Oregon, Angelo Haidaris of California, and his former wife, Toni Haidaris, and their son Dino Haidaris of Cortland. Dino was a beloved brother to Stacy Waldron and Angie Haidaris (Chris Canterbury). He also leaves the light of his life, his grandchildren, Fallon and Finnton Blesch and Annika Carrete. He also leaves many nieces and nephews that filled his life with joy.
Dino was preceded in death by his loving parents, Angelo and Katie Haidaris and his brother-in-law, Don Waldron.
A special thank you from the family is extended to Dr. Jason Valent and the team at Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Center and Dr. Antione Chahine and the St. Joseph Cancer Center nurses and staff who took such great care of him over the past several years.
Dino wished to be cremated. Family and friends may help celebrate Dino’s life at calling hours on Friday, January 26 from 4 – 6 pm at Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE Warren, Ohio 44483. A private service for the family will follow on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking all donations be sent to The Covenant House in Dino’s name.
