Champion – Dino Jerry Stango, 95, of Champion passed away on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Dino was born on February 4, 1930 in Aultman, PA, a son of the late Constantino and Theresa (Baroni) Stango.
Dino was a 1948 graduate of Elderidge High School and was drafted into the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded an honorable discharge for his service. Upon his return home, Dino and his family settled in Warren, OH, where he worked for Copperweld from 1958 until 1987, retiring as a crane operator.
Outside of work, Dino was a dedicated member of St. William Parish in Champion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Dino enjoyed umpiring in the Copperweld softball league and was known for being one of the best and most honest umpires. He enjoyed working with his neighbor, Mr. Tate, and just being around people. Most of all he cherished his grandchildren and was proud of his family. Dino will be dearly missed.
Dino will always be remembered by his daughters, Lori (Andy) McCombs of Orwell, Linda (Jim) Dietrich of Hartsgrove and Dina (Wally) Dawson of Warren; grandchildren, Michael (Leaha) Stango, Dominic (Megan) Robinson, Bryan (Jackie) Dawson, Jason (Makayla) McCombs and Sara (Grahm) Governor; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Dino was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Eggleston Stango; son, Michael Stango; brothers, Olympio and August Stango and sisters, Dina and Rena Stango.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 10 to 11am at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE Warren, OH 44483.
There will be a Funeral Service at the funeral home at 11am.
Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
