Johnstown – Donald Andrew Basile Sr., 80, formerly of Warren passed away on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024 at Johnstown Pointe Nursing Facility.
Donald was born on December 24, 1943 in Youngstown, OH, a son of Patrick and Mary (Moffo) Basile.
Donald was a 1961 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and was later drafted into the United States Army. Donald served during the Vietnam War and was awarded a honorable discharge for his service.
Upon returning home, Donald worked as a telephone installer and repairman for United Telephone (later Sprint and now Embarq). He loved his job and even helped people with their telephones after work and on his days off. Donald retired after 36 years.
Donald took pride in everything that he did. Whether it was on the job, house work or working on his 1957 Chevy Bel Air, Donald made sure things were done right. He was proud of family and cherished the moments he spent with them. Donald will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donald will always be remembered by his wife of nearly 40 years, Judith Basile; sons, Donald A. Basile Jr. of Niles and Adam P. Basile of Euclid; step-sons, Jeffrey L. Faryman of Columbus, Johnny (Eva) Richards of Sunbury and Jason (Amy) Richards of Virginia; grandchildren, Nicholas David Basile and Natalie, Justin, Ethan and Amber Richards; sister, Patricia Emily Bessette (also known as Dolly) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Bova.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Donald on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 10 am to 11am at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.
A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 11am
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Warren.
