Doris Gresh Obituary

Doris Loretta Gresh passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024 in Warren, Ohio with her family by her side.

Doris was born on October 18, 1933, in Warren, Ohio.  She was the youngest of 6 children born to the late John and Stella (Kuznar) Konopka.  After graduating Harding High School in 1951, Doris worked as a secretary at The Second National Bank and Packard Electric.  In 1952, she most unexpectedly met the love her life, Leonard (Sam) Gresh.  Sam was from Spangler, PA, and was in the US Navy.  Doris and Sam were married on August 21, 1954, and spent 60 wonderful years together.

Together, Doris and Sam built a family, several houses, and a summer retreat in Pennsylvania.  Doris enjoyed coordinating many carnivals and other fund-raising events at her daughters’ grade school.  She also belonged to 2 card clubs with her friends, from both Warren and Fowler.  Doris worked as secretary for Konwal Co. once her children left the nest.  Her most cherished memories were the many, many Christmas Eve dinner gatherings that her and Sam hosted for family and friends in their homes.

Doris leaves behind her daughters Cynthia (Jeffrey) Richards of Purcellville, VA, and Kathleen (Jerry) Lawman of Farmdale, OH; her niece Jeannie (Bruce) Geilhard of Vienna, OH, who lived with her and Sam and the family.

Nana also leaves behind her grandchildren Jennifer (John) Magnotti of Downington, PA, Stephanie Richards of Sterling, VA, and Alex (Belgica) Richards, of Vallejo, CA; her grandnephew Ryan (Tasha) Geilhard of Vienna, OH; grandniece Jenny (Michael) Artley of Evans, GA; great grandchildren Johnny, Christopher and Oliver Magnotti; her great-grandnephew Logan, great-grandniece Sara Geilhard, and soon-to-be-born great grandniece Baby Artley.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and all of her siblings, Louise Maniatis, Frank Konopka, Stella Spano Dugan, Walter Konopka and Jennie Rabovsky.

Doris’s family would like to thank the staff at Insight/Trumbull Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion during her stay, especially Bobbi.

Per Doris’s wishes, a private service was held on 12/27/24 at the All Souls Cemetery Chapel, officiated by Fr. Ed Stafford of Theresa of Calcutta Parish.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown Kingsville Rd SE, Vienna, OH 44473.
