Dorothy Marian "Dottie" Thomas

NILES- Dorothy Marian "Dottie" Thomas, 94, of Niles, Ohio, passed away from natural causes on Monday, December 30, 2024. 

The oldest of seven siblings, she was born on June 25, 1930, in Erie, PA, a daughter of Adolf and Jean Migdal. She was married on August 22, 1953, to John T. Thomas, who died March 26, 2006.

She is survived by her four sons and a daughter and their families: John (Cindy) Thomas, Jamie Thomas, Jeanine (Dave) Mangine, Joel Thomas, and Jason (Angie) Thomas; five grandchildren: Jessica (Josh) Urchek-Fong, Ryan (Emily) Urchek, Jenna (Vinny) Ficken, Dylan Thomas, and Brady Thomas; eight great-grandchildren: Sienna, Aubrey, Claire, Molly, Sam, Makayla, Hailey, and Olivia; a sister, Irene (Bob) Zoppetti and two brothers Raymond Migdal, and Thomas (Veronica) Migdal.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Jean & Florence, brother, Bob, brother-in-law, John, and godchild, Jennifer.

Growing up, she loved spending days at Presque Isle Beach. After graduating from Academy High School, Dorothy became a secretary and a model who appeared in many fashion shows and on television. She enjoyed nothing more than raising her family after relocating with her husband. Dorothy dedicated her life to religion and was a devoted parishioner of St. James Church. Dorothy enjoyed flying with her husband, whose career as a pilot let her enjoy traveling to new destinations. She cherished her time spent with her son, Jason, and his family in Naples, FL. Throughout her life, Dorothy enjoyed attending her family’s dance recitals and games. She had a passion for sports, which was only exceeded by the love she had for her family. 

Dorothy's legacy of joy and family will live on in all of us, and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts. 

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at The Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483. Mass to follow at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 2532 Burton Street SE, Warren, OH 44484. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in Erie, PA.
