Cortland – Eleanor P. Timko, 90, of Cortland passed away on Wednesday afternoon, April 16, 2025 at Windsor House in Champion.
Eleanor was born on February 20, 1935 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of William and Dorothy (Gillam) McLaughlin.
Eleanor was a 1953 graduate of South High School in Youngstown and went on to become a proud homemaker and mother. After her children were grown, she worked at Roger’s Lumber as a bookkeeper for 20 years.
Outside of work, Eleanor was a member of Bazetta Christian Church for many years. She enjoyed tole painting and hosting family gatherings, which she cherished. Eleanor’s presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Eleanor will always be remembered by her seven children, Leanne Barnett (Chuck Malcomson), Sharon (David) Darby, Felicia (Nick) Freeman, Valerie Davis, Douglas Barnett (Sid Jordan), Dwight Barnett and Christopher (Elaine) Barnett; grandchildren, Joshua, Benjamin, Jessica, Brian, Nicholas, April, Desurea, Morgan, James, Jennifer, Shelby, Alex, Christine and Laura; great grandchildren, Presley, Connor, Norah, Bradley, Liberty, Max, Ava, Bella, Aria, Ricky and Ryan; brother, William (Audrey) McLaughlin and sister, Martha Thomas.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her first husband, James Barnett; her second husband, Joseph Timko; her son, Kevin Barnett and sisters, Shirley (James) Quinn and Dorothy Jean Yates.
Eleanor’s family honored her with a private graveside service and burial in Hillside Cemetery.
