Elizabeth J. (Karafa) DeRose

Warren – Our beloved wife, mother & grandmother, Elizabeth “Betty” DeRose, 86, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, Sunday, February 9, 2025.

She was born July 3, 1938, in Warren, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Churman) Karafa. 

Betty was a 1956 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and a lifetime resident of Warren. She worked at Packard Electric from 1956-1962, before becoming a homemaker for her family.

Betty was a strong-willed woman and loved being a homemaker. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and baking desserts for special occasions. She was the most generous and caring person one could know.

Betty will be deeply missed by her husband Louis of 66 years, her children Kim (John) Sotak of Hilliard, OH, Frank (Laura) DeRose of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Flo (Dave) Palen of Salem, OH, grandchildren James (Heather) Sotak of Hilliard, OH, Alan (Jessica) Sotak of Delaware, OH, Taylor DeRose of Las Vegas, NV, Shelby DeRose of Houston, TX, Camille DeRose of Phoenix, AZ, Olivia and Madelyn Palen of Salem, OH,  great grandchildren Ethan, Louis, Isabelle and Jack Sotak and one sister Helen Lesnoski of Warren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Alice Flask, Marie Boyle, and her brother Michael Karafa.

Family and friends may pay their respects to Betty Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish-St. James Church, 2532 Burton St. SE, Warren, Ohio, 44484 where a Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am with Fr. Edward Stafford as celebrant.

The burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
