Elizabeth N. "Libby" Whetson

Warren – Elizabeth N. “Libby” Whetson, 76, of Warren passed away on Thursday evening, January 16, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital.

Libby was born on May 24, 1948 in Warren, OH, the daughter of Elton “Pete” and Dorothy “Betty” (Hill) Whetson.

Libby was a 1966 graduate of Bloomfield High School, where she was the valedictorian. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State University and later furthered her education, earning a Masters and Administration degree from Kent State University.

Libby was a devoted teacher at North Rd. and Howland Springs Elementary school for 40 years. She cherished her time as a teacher and was proud of each of her students. 

Outside of work, Libby enjoyed shopping, attending craft shows, and traveling. She was adventurous in her travels, visiting most of the United States and countries abroad, including visiting family in England. Libby’s favorite travelling experience was her trip to Ireland, where she kissed the Blarney Stone. At home, she always remained involved in the community as part of the Beta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Warren Women’s Club, The Howland School Retired Personnel, Howland Scope, Trumbull Townhall, Trumbull Retired Teachers, the Uptown Association and bocce league.  Libby attended North Bloomfield United Methodist Church and North Mar Church.  She especially cherished the time she spent with her friends and family, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Libby will always be remembered by many devoted cousins, “nieces and nephews,” and many loved friends throughout the community.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Libby on Thursday evening, January 23, 2025 from 4 to 6pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.

Additional Calling Hours will be on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 10 to 11am with a Funeral Service following at 11am at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Greene Cemetery.
