Warren - Emmett E. Inskeep, 94, of Warren, died peacefully Saturday evening, June 8, 2024 at Community Skilled Health Care Centre, Warren with additional care of Crossroads Hospice.
Emmett was born June 7, 1930 in Beckly, West Virginia, the son of Elizabeth and Howard Inskeep. He grew up in Flora, Indiana.
Emmett served in the United States Air Force 527th Air Base Squadron from 1951 to 1954 where he spent two years in the Philippines. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service to our country. Upon receiving and Honorable Discharge, Emmett graduated from Indiana University in 1958.
On June 18, 1959 he married his wife, Roberta and together they moved to Warren in 1961. They enjoyed 58 happy years of marriage together.
Emmett was employed at General Motors /Packard Electric in Labor Relations and Workers
Compensation from 1959 until his retirement in September 1991.
He was an active member of the Elk's Lodge #295 and the Moose Lodge #186. Emmett volunteered with Contact, taught a class at Kent State University Trumbull Campus in Labor Relations and enjoyed acting at Trumbull Campus Theater, playing cards, golfing, and fishing. He had Type 1 Diabetes for over sixty years and survived it. He had to think like a pancreas. Drs would often shake their heads in disbelief.
All of his family and friends will miss his shenanigans and sayings such as "Bring on the Dancing girls", "Oh my", "It's always something", "Not bad for a town this size", "I'll dance at your wedding and eat your cake too". He often said "I'm Super" when asked how he was doing. Towards the end of his life, he saluted personnel he respected in the nursing home while scurrying down the hallway in his wheelchair.
Emmett will be sadly missed by his children: Todd Inskeep and his wife Heidi of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Ferguson of Howland Township, OH, and Nancy Brinker of Winfield, KS. He also will be missed by his eight grandchildren: Colin Inskeep, Ryan Pierce, Daniel Pierce, Sarah Ferguson, Hannah Ferguson, Eric Brinker, Lauren Hanson and Cason Hanson his great grandchild.
Emmett was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Roberta and grandson Michael Inskeep.
There will be a celebration of Emmett’s life held at a later date for all his family and friends.
Emmett and Roberta will both be laid to rest together at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
