Warren – Georgia Dascoulias, 95, of Warren, entered into eternal life for a very well-deserved rest on October 5, 2024.
Georgia was born November 12, 1928, in Megalopolis, Arcadia, Greece, the eldest daughter of six children to Geroge and Vasiliki (Papadopoulos) Gianopoulos (Johnson). She came to the United States in 1946 with her family and settled in her well-loved new hometown of Ligonier, Pennsylvania.
Georgia married her beloved husband George J. Dascoulias on January 27, 1952, and they celebrated nearly 55 happy years of marriage until his passing on January 23, 2007.
Georgia was a proud member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and for over 72 years the Ladies Philoptochos Society at the church. She also was a member of the Senior Citizens Club, the Yasou Club, the Lunch Bunch and GAPA.
Georgia was a woman of great faith. She loved God with all her heart and served her church in many ways. She was devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed every minute she got to spend with them.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Chryse Dascoulias with whom she made her home, a son George (Joanne) Dascoulias and her beloved granddaughter Natalie who she called the heart of her heart, two sisters Sophia Zozos and Becky (Matt) Hnaras, brother-in-law Emmanuel Amorgianos and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Georgia was preceded in death by her sisters Toula (Nick) Ganavozos, Pota (Aris) Seitanakis and Aphrodite Amorgianos and brother-in-law Gus Zozos.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Georgia from 10:00 am until 10:50 am on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St. NE, Warren, where a Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Revs. Constantine Valantasis and Demetri Constantine presiding.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE Warren.
Georgia’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the friends and neighbors for all their kindness and help that was shown to them anytime they needed it. They also would like to thank every medical professional and paraprofessional that looked after her wellbeing and gave her good care throughout the years.
