Janice Hoolihan Obituary

Janice C. Hoolihan, 84, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Ohio Living Lake Vista in Cortland, Ohio.

Born on July 15, 1940, Janice was a woman defined by her boundless love for her family, her infectious sense of humor, and her generous heart. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Hoolihan; her parents; and her sister Barbara Datish. She is survived by her four sons: David M. Hoolihan, Jeffrey Hoolihan, Patrick Hoolihan, and Daniel Hoolihan; and her cherished grandchildren: DJ Hoolihan, Ashley (Christopher) Pelaez, Alaina (Drew) Guido, Kayla (Austin) Adams, Tyler (Brianna) Hoolihan, and Briana Hoolihan. She also leaves behind her dear siblings: Daniel Datish, Michael Datish, Richard Datish, and Sylvia Novotny, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and nephews.

Janice was the heart of her family — a constant source of comfort, joy, and laughter. Her grandchildren were her world, and she made their lives brighter with her love and dedication. Whether she was picking them up from school, caring for them when they were sick, or making summers magical with fun-filled activities, she poured herself into their happiness and well-being. She will forever be remembered as the best grandma — always present, always giving, and always loving.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: watching Judge Judy, snacking on popcorn and Hershey bars, playing BINGO and sharing stories and laughs with those around her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ohio Living Lake Vista and Traditions Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care shown to Janice throughout her final year. Their support and dedication brought comfort not only to Janice, but to all who loved her.

Janice’s warm spirit and giving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the love she shared so freely.

A private service will be held by the family to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Janice’s memory — just as she would have done.
