Joanne Santucci Obituary

Warren – Joanne Santucci, 91, of Warren passed away on Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025 at Hospice House in Poland.

Joanne was born on September 29, 1933 in Pleasant Hills, PA, a daughter of August and Anne (Scott) Smith. She was a graduate of Baldwin High School in Pleasant Hills and went on to receive a nursing degree from Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing.

Being a registered nurse became Joanne’s identity.  She started her career working in pediatrics in New York City and then worked at the V.A. hospital in Pittsburgh.  After meeting her husband, Louis Santucci, she moved to Warren and became the neighborhood and family nurse, tending to bruises and administering shots. She was very dedicated to her profession.  Locally, Joanne’s career took her from St. Joe’s Hospital to the Howland and Fairhaven school systems, where she was a school nurse; from Grinnell, Alcan, Packard and General Motors, where she was an industrial nurse to being a volunteer for the American Red Cross and for St. Joe’s at the mall, where she took blood pressures and administered flu shots. Her impact on the community and to those closest to her will forever be remembered.

Outside of work, Joanne also found time to work as an usher at Powers Auditorium in Youngstown. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a loyal Pittsburgh sports fan, cheering on the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. She was especially a fan of Roberto Clemente and Terry Bradshaw. Joanne was also a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Warren. While having not been able to attend services lately, she was deeply connected to her faith through the church and appreciated their outreach and prayers. Most of all, out of everything that Joanne did in her life, being a mother and grandmother was what she loved and cherished the most. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joanne will always be remembered by her daughters, Kathy (Kevin) Duffin of Dayton and Regina (James) Baker of Hubbard; grandchildren, Cara (Jon) Misiewicz, Megan (Brandon) Moravec, Brendan (Rebecca) Duffin, Amber Adams and Brandon (Kasey) Hines; seven great grandchildren, Giada, Arden, Pippa, Grady, Carson, Lydia and Layla; sister, Susan Bevard of Aiken, SC; brothers-in-law, Gene (Rosalie) Santucci and Chuck (Joan) Thomas of Cortland and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Louis Santucci and a sister, Loella Jackson.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Joanne on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 11am to 12pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.

A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 12pm.

Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joanne’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Warren, 2860 E Market St. Warren, OH 44483 OR to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road Youngstown, Ohio 44514.
