John A. Kozup passed away unexpectedly on January 16, 2025, at the Warren Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 2473 North Rd. NE, in Warren, Ohio, where he had resided for several years. His passing occurred one week prior to his 78th birthday.
John was born in Warren on January 23, 1947, to Charles and Mildred Kozup of Warren. John was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Cortland, class of 1965. He joined the U.S. Army in 1967 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1969.
Following his U.S. Army service John attended Ohio State University and Kent State University where he received the M.B.A. degree in Financial Planning. John spent a number of years living in Massachusetts as a Financial Planner. He returned to the Warren area later in his life where he continued to assist others with their finances. Eventually, health problems forced him to reside in the Warren Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until his recent passing.
John was an avid sports fan. He strongly supported Cleveland teams, including the Browns, the Indians, and the Cavaliers. He enjoyed compiling statistics on the Cleveland Browns for his brothers and other friends.
John is survived by his three brothers and their families, Peter, Charles, and Joseph Kozup. He is also survived by two aunts on his mother's side, Margaret Petty and Pauline Dickey, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John's Celebration of Life to be held on Friday, June 27,2025 at 3:00 PM at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St NE with Rev. Robin Woodberry officiating. All those who consider themselves friends of John are encouraged to attend his Celebration of Life and show their support of John's lifetime of spreading good will to those around him. John will be interned later at Pineview Memorial Gardens next to his parents in a private ceremony.
