John Joseph Mock, 76, of Warren passed away on Saturday morning, June 14, 2025 at his home after a courageous battle with heart disease.
John was born on October 23, 1948 in Warren, OH, a son of John and Anne (Sutyak) Mock. He was a 1966 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and went on to attend Youngstown State University.
John devoted his professional life to being a first responder. He started his career as an EMT and then worked for 26 years for the Warren City Fire Department, rising to the rank of Assistant Chief.
In retirement, John went back to school and earned an associate’s degree in environmental studies from Kent State University – Trumbull. Using his degree, he worked as an asbestos inspector across the area. John also enjoyed working as a Library Monitor for the Warren Public Library.
Outside of work, John cherished quality time spent with family and friends, especially when it was at his lakeside condo in Saybrook. His loving presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Rebecca (Cantelmo) Mock of Warren; brothers, David (Melinda) Mock of Howland and Thomas (Kathy) Mock of Austintown; nieces, Amanda (J.C.) Sell of University Heights, OH and Andrea Mock (William Yttre) of Columbia, SC; nephew, John T. (Alyssa) Mock of Broadview Heights, OH; five great nieces and nephews and his cat, Oliver.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy (Mock) Drake and a niece, Samantha Mock.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to John on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 10 to 11am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE Warren, OH 44483
A Funeral Mass will follow at the church at 11am with Rev. Christopher Cicero presiding.
