Warren - John “Jack” Lewis Urchek Jr., 89, of Cortland, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024.
He was born in Warren on March 1, 1935 to John and Anne (Kmetz) Urchek Sr.
He is survived by children Cindy Hunter, John (Lisa) Urchek III, Christine (Charles) File Jr.; grandchildren John Urchek IV, Matt (Bailey) Urchek, David (Haley) Hunter Jr., Shawna (Tom) Izar, Nicholas Hunter, Maribeth File and Charles File III; great granddaughter Aubrey Hunter; siblings James (Barbara) Urchek and Anna (Leland) Smith) and many loved in-laws, nieces, nephews, god-children and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine and his parents.
Jack was a graduate of Harding High School, Class of 1953, and worked for Cerny Shoe repair and Packard Electric.
He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns and his hobbies included putting more than 100,000 miles on his exercise bike and playing baseball. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peter Rossi Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE Warren, OH 44483 with additional calling hours to be held Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 4659 OH-46, Cortland, OH 44410.
Funeral mass will begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Spina Bifida Association of America or St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 4659 OH-46, Cortland, OH 44410.
Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
