Joseph L. "Joe" Phipps

CORTLAND — Joseph L. “Joe” Phipps, 95, of Cortland passed away on Monday morning, November 18, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Joe was born on May 22, 1929 in Weathersfield, OH, a son of Leroy and Ann (Michaels) Phipps.

Joe attended Niles McKinley High School and went on to work for Packard Electric for 33 years, where he retired as a millwright.

Outside of work, Joe enjoyed attending auctions, working on tractors and cars in his barn and watching NASCAR. He truly enjoyed being around others. Whether it was sitting outside chatting over a high ball and a beer or sitting inside in his rocking chair, Joe cherished his friends and family. He would say, “ I have no regrets,” when talking about his life and he was particularly proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joe will always be remembered by his daughters, Debby Jean Clark of Aurora, Marcia Hughes of Cortland and Karen Davies of Cortland; daughter-in-law, Joanna Phipps Enoch of Champion; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Lisa Connor of North Carolina and a sister-in-law, Carol Ryals of Taylorsville, N.C.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jean (Persin) Phipps; his sons, Alan Joseph Phipps and Ricky Phipps; son-in-law, Clyde Clark; sisters, Cathy and Anne and brother, William.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10am to 12noon at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd NE, Warren OH 44483

There will be a Funeral Service at 12noon on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
