She graduated from Leavittsburg High School where she played in the band and orchestra. She also played baseball, basketball, and ran track. Judy worked at Leavittsburg school for a few years before becoming a stay-at-home mom raising four children and attending their sports, music, and academic activities. Judy was married to Charles “Chuck” James for 63 years, supported him in his work, and they shared many leisure activities together.

Judy liked to garden, swim, host family gatherings, and was an avid bowler in a women’s league for many years. She enjoyed traveling, and especially visiting their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also known for her famous chocolate chip ‘cookie pies.’

Judy was a member of North Mar Church, serving as a deaconess for many years, as well as working with the women’s groups to support numerous missionaries.

Judy leaves behind three sons, Donald (Diana), David (Carol), and Dr. Douglas (Valarie), and a daughter Deborah (Scott) Shallenberger, plus 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
