Judy Crane

Warren - Judy Crane, a lifelong resident of Warren, Ohio, passed away on August 12, 2025, joining those she loved in heaven. She was born on August 5, 1941 and was a 1959 graduate of Leavittsburg High School.

Judy was, above all, a devoted mother. Her daughters were the light of her life and her proudest accomplishment. Beginning in 1969, she raised her three daughters as a single mother—an extraordinary act of strength and sacrifice. Their professional and personal successes brought her immense pride and fulfillment. Her life grew richer and more joyful with the arrival of her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Ba"—a name she cherished. Judy was a constant and enthusiastic presence in their lives, attending every activity, event, and performance until illness made it no longer possible. She was later blessed with two great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. She felt deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to hold and love them, knowing what a special blessing that was.

Judy worked tirelessly throughout her life in many roles—cleaning homes, driving a school bus, and working at Packard Electric. She retired as an educational aide from the Warren City School System, where she found purpose and pride in supporting the education of others.

In retirement, Judy found joy in travel and cherished time spent with her daughters and grandchildren. Together, they explored destinations including Marco Island, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, New York City, Phoenix, the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Atlantic City, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Columbus, and Palm Beach. She was an enthusiastic supporter at dance competitions, recitals, concerts, plays, and sporting events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A loyal fan of the Cleveland Guardians and the Ohio State Buckeyes, she especially treasured attending baseball games with her daughter Cheryl and grandson Chance. Her love of the arts was profound, and she passed that appreciation on to her family.

Judy was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Warren and Elmyra Snyder, whom she considered her parents. She was also deeply grateful for the support of her aunt and uncle, Charlotte and William Tomsich.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and selflessness through her daughters: Diana (Jimmy) Whetstone of Howland; Cheryl (Patrick) Duffy, M.D., of Brookfield; and Dawn (Damon) Haught of Cortland. Her beloved grandchildren include Krystie (Eric) Whetstone-Sutch of Howland, Karli (Doug) Datish of Howland, Marissa and Jared Snyder of Cortland, Hope Duffy of Columbus, and Chance Duffy of Brookfield. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Phoenix Sutch and Declan Datish; her sister, Margaret (John) Harvey; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and her cherished poodle, Shimmer. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Dorthy and Don Smith; her grandparents, Elymra and Warren Snyder; her aunt and uncle, Charlotte and William Tomsich; and her father, John Long.

A private service was arranged by Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel. Entombment took place at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Ohio.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Cortland Health Care and SouthernCare Hospice Services for their compassionate care, and to her dear neighbors on Kingston Court. They also extend deep gratitude to cherished friends Giovanna LaMonica, Nancy Raskov, Madeline DeAngelis, and Brenda McKimmie-Torres for their love, friendship, and unwavering support over many years.
