Kathryn Sporich Obituary

Warren - Kathryn (Kay) Sporich of Warren passed away Thursday morning, January 2 at the age of 99. Kay was born October 14, 1925, in Pulaski Township, PA the eighth of nine children of Mitro and Eva Hrycyk. She was a 1943 graduate of Union High School, Pulaski Township, PA and entered the workforce immediately after graduation first at Isaly’s Dairy and then at GE Youngstown Lamp and finally at Ohio Lamp in Warren where she retired after 42 years of service.

In 1950, Kay married Paul Sporich, and together they raised two children, Denice and Tom.

Kay belonged to St. James (St. Elizabeth Ann Seton) Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Altar & Rosary Society and other church sponsored events. In addition, Kay worked with Mobile Meals of Trumbull County. Kay loved going to various casinos with relatives and neighbors, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and Warren Harding Panthers. She also loved watching golf and the game shows. But most of all, Kay loved being with family, especially during the holidays with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Precious memories will live on through her children: Denice (Bill – deceased) Culbertson of Massillon, OH and Tom (Lisa) Sporich of Fairlawn, OH; Grandsons: David (Danielle) Culbertson and their children Gabrielle and Isabelle of Columbus, OH, Michael (Melinda) Culbertson and their children Miles, Elliott and Stella of Canton, OH, Stephen (Shannon) Culbertson and their children Lucas and Andrew of South Lyon, MI, Matthew Sporich of Akron, OH and Michael Sporich of Charleston, SC, several nieces and nephews that have stayed in touch along with special niece, Marlene Hrycyk that provided much appreciated support and care along with her neighbors from the years.

The family would like to recognize Dr. Chahine and his staff for the excellent medical care and compassion provided over the years. It was very much appreciated.

Kathyrn was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul T., her parents, her in-laws, her siblings, Millie, John, Mary, Nick, Steve, Ann, Pete and Mike and her son-in law.

Our Mother, a member of the Greatest Generation, persevered through the death of her Father at a young age, lived through the Depression and WW II and exhibited a work ethic, a determination and a resiliency that few could ever match. Her actions spoke louder than her words. May God bless you. Love You.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Kay on Saturday January 11, 2025, from 1 to 2pm at St. James Church (St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish), 2532 Burton Street SE, Warren, OH 44483, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 2PM with Father Christopher Cicero officiating.
