Cortland – Lawrence W. “Larry” Lunder, 75, of Cortland, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, September 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry will be forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Born on February 10, 1950, in Warren, Ohio, he was the son of Jacob and Margaret (Kochinko) Lunder and a lifelong resident of the area.
He dedicated 47 years of service as a parts supplier with Delphi Packard Electric before retiring. A devout Catholic, Larry generously volunteered his time with the Second Harvest Food Pantry for Cortland Cares.
Larry had a passion for the outdoors and led an active lifestyle, frequently participating in 5K and 10K races. He was an avid golfer, competing in multiple leagues at Candywood Golf Course, and also enjoyed hiking, biking, and socializing with friends in the Warren Ski Club. Dancing with his beloved wife Christina was one of his greatest joys. A loyal sports enthusiast, Larry proudly cheered on his favorite team—the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of over 24 years, the former Christina Peluso, whom he married on May 25, 2001. He is also survived by his three children, Jeffrey J. (Kathy) Ankenbruck, Evan T. (Diana) Ankenbruck, and Martin A. (Jessica) Ankenbruck; six grandchildren—Jordyn, Brett, Bailey, Carter, Jack, and Harper; as well as numerous cousins and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Lunder.
