It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn (Romanowsky) Ben, cherished mother, proud grandmother, beloved great grandmother, loving aunt, and treasured friend.
Marilyn passed on October 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, in Milan, MI, where she has resided for the last 5 years. Previously, she was a resident of Girard, OH for her entire life. Marilyn was born on Dec. 18, 1933, the youngest child of Peter and Pauline (Sahydak) Romanowsky. She graduated from Girard High School in 1952.
She married Nick Ben on May 29, 1954. They celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing on Sept. 14, 2011.
Marilyn was a proud and meticulous homemaker, but her greatest joy was her family-whether it was cooking a favorite food, watching a school, church, or sporting event, or simply spending time together.
While living in Girard, Marilyn was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Warren and regularly volunteered in the kitchen where she was part of the “pierogi pinching crew”. She also enjoyed playing cards with lifelong friends in the “girls card club”.
Left to mourn her passing include two daughters; Paulette (Ben) Seiser of Milan, MI and Lynette (Ben) DeSantis of Chardon, OH; Five granddaughters; Susan (Jordan) Adkins, Kristen (Eric) Knieper, Dr. Nina (Phil) Asbury, Angela (Nick) Bland, Megan (Andy) Kujawa; Twelve great-grandchildren include Harper and Hudson Adkins, Ava, Austin and Ashton Knieper, Camille, Lily, and Mia Asbury, Louis Bland, and Logan, Colton and Rylee Kujawa; Former daughter-in-law Johnna Ben, sister-in-law Gladys Goodman, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nick (2011), son, Ken (2024), son-in-law Fedele DeSantis (2016), siblings Steve (Ruth) Romanowsky, Tony (Roma) Romanowsky, and Stella (John) Woytek.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2053 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483. A requiem funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM, with Rev. Fr. Timothy Paproski officiating. Interment will be at Pineview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Arbor Hospice, Fr. Timothy Paproski of St. Nicholas Church, and to the many friends and relatives who have supported us through this journey.
Marilyn’s legacy is one of generosity, kindness, endless love, and support. She will be missed dearly but never forgotten. Her memory will continue to bring love and warmth to those she leaves behind.
