Mary Bertuzzi Obituary

Warren – Mary Eileen (Foley) Bertuzzi, 95, of Warren passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Windsor House of Champion.

Mary was born on October 21, 1928 in Warren, OH, a daughter of William and Sarah (Bradley) Foley.

Growing up, she attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and was a 1946 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. In her senior of high school she met Dale, a most handsome and intriguing man, who she married on May 20, 1950. They shared 66 wonderful years until his death in 2016.

From 1951 to 1954, Mary worked for Catholic Charities. Then, in 1954, she began her career working for the Diocese of Youngstown as the church secretary for Christ Our King Parish in Warren. In addition to being a proud homemaker, Mary devoted herself to her role in the church. She trained many new priests in parish duties as they came through Christ Our King, as well as participated in just about every parish group. Mary’s soft-spoken, kind and faithful presence was treasured by her parish community.

Outside of work, Mary enjoyed reading, knitting, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Brown. She was meticulous both at work and at home, having been unofficially voted to have the “cleanest house in Warren.” Mary enjoyed traveling…as long as it was by car. She enjoyed many trips to Lake Erie with her family and loved to watch the ships come in and stop to look at the lighthouses. Most of all, Mary was dedicated to her family. Whether it was supporting and bragging about her grandkids or sharing an ice cream cone, Mary cherished the time she spent with those she loved. Her life cannot be summed up in one page. She will be greatly missed.

Mary will always be remembered by her son, Dale Jr. (Debi) Bertuzzi of Howland; daughter, Michele (Paul) Bar of Bristolville; grandchildren, Rebecca Bertuzzi (Jake Martell) and Daniel Bertuzzi; sister, Joan Galloway of Warren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Bertuzzi Sr.; sisters, Dorothy Hyden and Catherine Manusakis; brother, Jack Foley and special family friend, Fr. Bernard Vacca.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Mary on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 10 to 11am at St. Mary and Joseph Church, 232 Seneca Ave NE, Warren, OH 44481.

A Funeral Mass will follow at the church on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11am.

Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
