Beloved sister, sister-in-law, Aunt, and Great Aunt, Mary Elaine Bournias entered eternal sleep on July 14, 2025.
Mary Elaine was born on September 12, 1956, to Louis and Katie Bournias in Warren, Ohio. Growing up in a tight-knit Greek Orthodox Community, she developed a strong sense of family and cultural pride from an early age.
She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1974 and earned a dental degree from Youngstown State University in 1979.
Professionally, Mary had a fulfilling career as a Dental Hygienist. She retired at 56 after working for her brother’s Dental Office in Cochranton and ending at Bournias, Cervone, Derlink, Hutchinson Dental office and Associates in Meadville.
She had a particular love for hot air balloons and served on the board of the Thurston Classic for over 25 years. Her knitting projects were a testament to her creativity and patience, crafting memories stitch by stitch.
One of her cherished traditions was vacationing with her family at Hilton Head Island, a destination they had been visiting since 1982.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother Stelios in 2020. She leaves behind a brother Alex (Karen) and a sister-in-law Barbara as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Juniper Village in Meadville and Davita Meadville Dialysis for the excellent care she received.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 11:00 to 11:50 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High Street, Warren, where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM.
Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren. Donations can be made to Project Sweet Peas – Greater Pittsburgh to assist families with premature babies or St. Demetrios Church.
