Nicolo "Nick" Tascione

Warren-Nicolo “Nick” Tascione, 95, of Warren passed away on Friday August 23, 2024 at Gilette Nursing Home in Warren.

Nick was born on June 26, 1929 in Castel Frentano, Italy, a son of Anthony and Rose (Tenaglio) Tascione.

In 1947, at the age of 18, Nick immigrated to the United States and joined his father in Pennsylvania for a short time.  He eventually settled in Warren, Ohio where his Aunt Concetta Costantino took him in and reared him along with her 11 children.  Nick worked as a cook at the Golden Gate restaurant for several years before being hired at Packard Electric, where he met his wife of 35 years, Gloria, and was employed there for 41 years, retiring as an oiler. As a young man, he also served in the United States Army and was awarded an honorable discharge.

Outside of work, Nick was an exceptional gardener.  He took great joy in tending to his garden and perfecting his yard.  Whether it was growing flowers or canning tomatoes, he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with those he loved.  Nick also enjoyed cooking, attending local festivals and listening to live music, shopping with his daughter and grandchildren, and the occasional purchase from QVC.  Most of all he loved and cherished his family, especially his 3 grandchildren.  Nick will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Nick will always be remembered by his daughter Rosanne (Paul) Rarick of Austintown; grandchildren Jayme (Jeff) Skebo of Youngstown, Mackenzie Rarick (Alyssa Felleti) of Warren, and Zachary (Summer) Rarick of Austintown, and his beloved cousins Katie Lipczynski and Nick (Dawn) Costantino both of Warren.

Besides his parents, Nick was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gloria (Flaviani) Tascione, a sister Giovina Rotondo, and an older brother Nico Tascione who died before Nick was born.

Nick’s family would like to thank the staff of Gilette Nursing home and Akeso Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Nick and his family the past several months.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Nick on Wednesday, August 28 from 10:00-11:00am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish-Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road N.E. Warren, Ohio 44483

A Funeral Mass will follow at the church on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Christopher Cicero presiding.

Entombment will follow at All Souls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Nick’s name to Trumbull Mobile Meals.
