Warren – Phyllis M. Abruzzi, 77, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a short battle with pneumonia.
She was born February 25, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa Malagisi.
She was a 1959 graduate of Youngstown East High School. She retired as the bookkeeper of A&T Garage on Youngstown Rd. after 50 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, and helping to coordinate, create, and distribute quilts to hospitalized children through an organization that was near and dear to her, Quilts from the Heart.
She is survived by her husband Sergio “Joe” Abruzzi whom she married February 14, 1963, four children Catherine (Michael) Kelly of Saline, MI, Karen (Frank) Eagle of Chagrin Falls, Marco (Kim) Abruzzi of Champion, and Matthew (Stacey) Abruzzi of Champion, eight grandchildren Sagan and Mitchell Redies, Blake and Bennett Eagle, Emily and Nicolas Abruzzi, Joseph and Ethan Abruzzi. A brother Richard (Priscilla) Malagisi of Austintown, and two sisters, Delores Esposito of Hubbard and Mary Lou Rusu of Youngstown.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Frank “Chookie” Malagisi.
Family and friends may call Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, May 11, 2018, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Phyllis’s name to the Quilts from the Heart organization.
