Rosetta Dixon Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosetta Marie (Astolfi) Dixon, 99, of Warren, on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, after a long and beautiful life.

Rosetta, or Rose, as so many knew her, was born on April 11, 1925, in Warren, the daughter of the late John Astolfi and Theresa (Liberatore) Astolfi. She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1944. She married her beloved husband, Omer Patrick Dixon on July 19, 1952.

In her early years, Rose worked at the A & P grocery store and the Ohio Lamp GE Plant, both in Warren. After that she was a stay at home mom and homemaker. Rose had many talents and she shared them with all of her family. Everyday she cooked dinner and made school lunches and the food was always good! She baked the most delicious cakes and cookies, especially at Christmas. She was an amazing seamstress and made countless outfits, dresses, dance and Halloween costumes. She also helped with so many school projects and was very artistic. There was always a creative spirit in the Dixon house and everything was handmade. She passed all of her gifts onto her daughters, and for that they are so thankful.

Rosetta was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren.

Above all else, Rose cherished time spent with her husband and entire family and always with good food. She loved all the family celebrations of any kind. She and Pat loved watching all Ohio sports teams play and all sorts of westerns on TV. The true joys of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While her grandchildren and are now adults, there are so many memories with Grandma that they will cherish forever. She was truly a special lady.

Rose is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Patti (John) Wilson, Carolyn (Andrew) Hrusovsky; grandchildren, Josh (Sarah) Wilson, Matt Wilson, A.J. Hrusovsky, and Samantha Hrusovsky; great-grandchildren, Ava and Zoe.

Her beloved husband, Pat, her parents, a daughter Linda, and siblings Archie Astolfi, Tillie Fiorino, Josephine Crain, HelenTaneri, and Vince Astolfi preceded her in death.

Special thanks go to her loyal caregivers and companions: Carole, Gina, Missie, Pam, and Sue for their amazing care over the past year and a half. Also, special thanks to her physical therapy friends: Julie, Ashley, Debbie, Olivia, Rebecca, and Sarah.

She had such a sweet bond with ALL of these special women.

Also thanks to Patriot at Home Hospice Care: Barbie, Krystal and Jason for their amazing support & compassion.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Rose on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 11am to 12pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE. A service will follow at the funeral home at 12pm.
