Warren – Thomas G. “Tom” Dorff Sr., 86, of Warren, peacefully passed away on Sunday afternoon, October 13, 2024 with his loving family by his side.
Tom was born February 20, 1938, in Warren, the son of Chester and Thelma (Bell) Dorff and was a lifelong area resident.
Tom was a 1956 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. In 1957, Tom married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, the former Jane C. Hoolihan and they celebrated over 66 years of marriage until her passing on November 11, 2023.
Tom began his career as a crane operator working in the mills, followed by a career at Packard Electric for over 30 years until his retirement in 1998.
Tom will always be remembered for his easy-going and fun personality along with his passion for sports and his toys. Tom loved life and lived it to its fullest. He enjoyed playing basketball, slow pitch softball and baseball. He also looked forward to boating, water skiing, roller blading and taking rides in his corvette and on his motorcycle. He was a huge fan and enjoyed rooting on his favorite teams; The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Indians/Guardians.
Tom will be remembered by his children, Thomas G. Jr. (Carolyn) Dorff of Howland, Kim Ilnicki (Bill McCoski) of Johnstown, NY, and Cheri (George) Papalios of Howland; grandchildren, Christina and Jennifer Dorff, Jeremiah Dorff (Heather McGovern), Emily (Vincent) McCallum, Elana Ilnicki, Anna (Marisa Velez) Ilnicki , Andrew (Teresa) Ilnicki, Michael (Vanessa) Papalios, Nicole Papalios, and Alexis Papalios ( Amir Atighehchi); 16 great-grandchildren; five and half great-great-grandchildren (one on the way), and a sister-in-law Janice Hoolihan of Warren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by his two brothers Robert and Pete Dorff.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Tom on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 10:00 am until 10:55 am at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE. Warren, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
Entombment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Warren.
