I was very saddened to hear about Mr. Bergin. I have so many wonderful memories of him, Mrs. Bergin, their big family and their home on Porter Street during our JFK days in the 70's. Maureen, your Mom & Dad came to my father's funeral and it was so nice to see and talk with them. It meant a lot to me. You all have so much to be proud of. What a great life he lived giving of himself and his time for others. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

WE ARE SO SAD TO HEAR ABOUT SCOTTY- WE LIVE IN COLUMBUS NOW- AND HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO FIND WHERE SCOTTY & FRANCES WERE LIVING- WE WANTED TO STOP AND SEE THEM WHENEVER WE CAME TO WARREN, BUT DID NOT KNOW WHERE THEY WERE.
SCOTTY WAS A GREAT NEIGHBOR ON NORTH ST. AND MORE SO A GREAT PERSON- HE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HIS FACE AND WE WILL SURELY MISS HIM. GOD BLESS YOU- AND MAY HE REST IN PEACE.

I am unable to attend to the wake due to my work schedule. I just want to pay my respect to Mr. Bergin's family. As a young teenager, I have had nice conversation with him at times when he came to Hot Dog Shoppe during the days l was employed there. He was a true gentleman with a kind spirit. I am sorry for your loss, my prayer is this, may the Lord comfort you and family during your time of mourning and enjoy the memories this man has brought to your life.......Tom Costantino

Thanks so much for your kind words. They are much appreciated.
There will never be another "Scotty" Bergin.
I got to be with him the last 11 days of his life on earth and when he took his last breath. Sad but I was happy to be with him for comfort and love.
Thanks again.

Remembering Scotty and Francis as friends of my parents, Charles & Helen Eschman of Warren and members of St Mary's Church there also. I remember Scotty for bringing my parents a gift from Ireland (or Scotland) when they visited there! My condolences to the entire Bergin family.

Few things are forgotten such as the smile and laughter of a strong man with whom Love, strength and faith exists in a legacy of generations of family. I can remember stopping by that house on Porter St. A house which was reflective of an entire generation of hardworking, dedicated blue collar workers populating the city. A good house protecting the family it raised. It was a time when our parents epitomized the expression, " say what you mean and mean what you say" and they did it all without complaint. My friend, running down those stairs to the front door, we were hurrying to leave. Saying goodby to her dad....The smile, the love between father and daughter was reflected in the few exchanges I witnessed. We took those infrequent exchanges for granted back then. As the years sped by those moments become more treasured. What a legacy of love Mr. Bergin left for his family to share. Let his love, faith, strength and smile wrap around your hearts and stay with you through your lives......My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.
