Katherine Savakis

Warren – Katherine Savakis, 86, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at Signature of Warren.

            She was born June 7, 1931, in Vandergrift, PA, the daughter of the late George and Marianthi Mastorakis.

            She was a 1949 graduate of Vandergrift High School and came to Warren in 1950. Katherine was Vice President of Jerry’s Auto Sales Inc. from 1953 to 1988. She was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, the Daughters of Penelope and was past President and 1978 Daughter of the year, Senior Citizens Club, and was one of the founders of the YaSou Club of the Church. She also was a Sunday School Teacher and was very active with the Church Festival since it began in 1967. She enjoyed reading doing Cross word puzzles and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.

            She is survived by Alexander J.  “Alex” (Cynthia) Savakis of Howland, two grandchildren Katherine Savakis and Michael Jerry Savakis, and a sister Joan Moutafis of Boston, Mass.

            She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Savakis whom she married August 27, 1950 and passed away January 21, 1999, a grandson Jerry A. Savakis II, a brother Stan Mastorakis and a sister Niki Mastorakis.

            Family and friends may call Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 429 High St. Warren, Ohio 44481.

            A service will be Saturday at 12:00 noon at the Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating.

            Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.

            In lieu of flowers contributions may be made Katherines name the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Scholarship Fund or to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church New Church Building Fund 429 High St. Warren, Ohio 44481.
